Meet Kate and James Clairmont corporate executives turned Sheep Milk & Cheese producers.
After departing Napier, you’ll head south along the coast through Clive and past Craggy range winery to the famous Tuki Tuki Valley. Where we will meet Kate and James owners of Craggy Range Sheep Dairy.
At the milking shed they’ll show us the inner workings of sheep milking, the processes to make cheese where they store the cheese and about the unique history of sheep cheese, and how it takes its place in the world.
If we’re lucky, we’ll catch them at milking time!
The tour continues up to the homestead, where you will experience breathtaking views of Craggy Range, the back face of Te Mata Peak.
Kate and James will talk about their journey to becoming Sheep Dairy farmers, and how they produce high quality sheep cheese that are supplied to some of New Zealand’s best restaurants. We will finish with an educational and chatty sheep cheese and local wine pairing. Before departing back to Napier.
